The Kids Are Back To School, No More Excuses!

The kiddos are back in school here in the Rio Grande Valley and most people, especially women, always come up with the excuse that they can not find the time to workout because of their kids. Well, they are back in school for either a half or for the whole day, what is your excuse now?

This might sound a little authoritarian, but why are your kids keeping you from getting healthy or are they? My son was out of school the same amount of time that all the other kids were out, I run a business, train my clients personally or online, cook at home, prepare for body building competitions, take him to orchestra camps, and I still had time to workout. For you to get to the body you want, whether it is a few sizes down or competition prep, you have to stop making up excuses why you can not train.

All you need is at least an hour to workout. Do a minimum of 30 minutes of cardio and then 30 minutes of core and resistance training. If you want to see any type of results, then you need to workout 3 times a week. Working out once a week is not going to give you any type of results. You have to burn more calories than you take in to lose weight. Break up you body in parts and give each body part at least 24 hours to rest. Here is an example of how to do that:

Monday: 30 minutes cardio, abs, arms, & shoulders
Wednesday: 30 minutes cardio, abs, & legs
Friday: 30 minutes cardio, abs, chest, & back

You also need to change how and what you eat. I have heard, so many times, how people do not have the energy to workout. Why do you think you do not have energy? It is because you keep on eating foods that have virtually no nutritional value (aka: fake processed foods), which means they do not give you the energy your body needs to function. There are commercials that claim if you take their pills, you can lose weight and eat whatever you want. I'm sorry but, in the real world that is a ball face lie. They are only telling you that to get you to buy their product. They are not required by the USDA or FDA to tell you the truth.

Stay away from the fried foods, fast-foods, processed foods, and sodas. Start eating foods that are grilled, roasted, sauteed, poached, baked, broiled, or steamed and you will find that you will have enough energy to get you on or back on track.
