The end of Summer is
coming and everyone is either on or wrapping up their vacations. Did or have you kept active during your
Summer vacation? If so, what did you do to remain active? If not, are you
planning on getting back on track? If you never have been able to get serious
before, are you planning on getting fit and healthy before New Year’s?
Being on vacation is
a brief break to enjoy family and friends time without worrying about work.
Whether you all travel hundreds miles away or stay around in the nearby area,
you should remain active as much as you can while on vacation. The key is not
to look at your workouts as a choir, but as your “me” time. The time used to
release stress, burn calories, and feel strong and healthy!
There are many
different ways to remain active on your vacation. An early morning walk, jog,
or run on the beach to just simply using the gym located at your hotel or at a
nearby location. Resistance bands are great from of strength training you can
use when there is no access to a gym. They can be manipulated into several
exercises that will train the entire body. To make sure you get a great
workout, buy a light, a medium, & a heavy resistance band. Whatever type of
physical activity you prefer, just make sure to include both resistance and
cardiovascular training in your program.
What you do not want
to do is take 2 weeks or more off from the gym. Getting back into the grind is
not as easy as it seems when you take too much time off. It is almost like
starting over with those lovely symptoms of soreness, stiffness, &
crankiness. Therefore, it will be very easy to say, “Naw, I'll start tomorrow.
Then, tomorrow will be next week and so forth. Do not keep letting yourself
down and stay on track this Summer!
